The Shempston Shoot offers all lowland quarry species as laid out over two decades ago as per the Game Conservancy.
Over 3 miles of well tended hawthorn hedges and over 100 acres of planted conifer and hardwood trees surrounded by cotoneaster bushes makes Shempston the perfect environment for game and for the discerning sporting gun.
Walked up or driven days can be provided as required. Less formal walked up days can be yours or early morning and late evening duck flighting in various locations including the well known local Spynie canal can be arranged. Or for those who like a real challenge, there is quality goose shooting.
Our keeper is experienced and enthusiastic and willing to please.
Deer stalking is also available (season permitting) on request.
A small wooden chalet situated near the heart of the shoot can be used if required on really cold days where both shelter and a hot mug of soup are available.
The Lairds Lair Bothy is also available for guns to relax in – no need to remove your mucky boots, simply make yourself comfortable and enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning stove. On early arrival, guests will enjoy a warming cup of tea or coffee and a traditional buttered roll. The bothy is the focal point at the beginning and the end of the day – the place to relax and gather your thoughts at the end of the shoot, have your gun cleaned, count the bag and receive a brace of birds before heading home happy, content and satisfied and hopefully eager to come again.
With regards to our duty of care and to comply with health and safety and insurance requirements, we are required to receive a copy of your current shot gun certificate as part of our legal duties.
